Cammy, I am so sorry to hear of your loss. Your father probably knew this poem: may he rest in peace.

"Sunset and evening star,
And one clear call for me!
And may there be no moaning of the bar,
When I put out to sea,

But such a tide as moving seems asleep,
Too full for sound and foam,
When that which drew from out the boundless deep
Turns again home."

Thanks to everyone for all of your thoughts and wishes.

@Bill -- I read this poem at my father's memorial service. He was a proud submariner -- a cold war veteran -- and this poem (Crossing the Bar by Alfred Lord Tennyson) was a wonderful tribute.
